In 2014 after running my 1st marathon life decided to throw a massive pie in my face in the form of an autoimmune disease. I was stripped of my personality, weight, smile, fun, boobs, humour, all hormone functions and energy.
After spending nearly a year as an emotionless twig who had no desire or capability to do anything I decided to take recovery into my own hands.
Rebuilding my former self wasn’t easy but I love the new improved version of me … Semi gone are the days of gluten, carbs & excessive sugar. I now try to lead a paleo diet, but am notorious for relapsing with sugar… daily!
I’ve waved goodbye to running 6 days a week and intense cardio sessions, to 2x strength based workouts a week, yoga, walking and the occasional gentle jog. AND in the process learnt that it’s ok to swap a session for the sofa and a cup of tea instead!
And finally, I’ve discovered life isn’t about worrying or sticking to ‘The Plan’. Spontaneity is my new best friend which has already opened up so many amazing new doors and friends for me.
I’m now living the balanced life. I’ve found out what works for me, and in 24 years I believe I’m the happiest I’ve ever been.
I’m learning to love the body my mumma gave me, while worrying less about what people think of me and embrace my quirky personality and dry sense of humour.
I’m going to wing this blog with verbal diarrhoea of my weekly life. Expect food, photography, fashion, fitness, interiors, trips away and moaning!
